In light of COVID-19, donor milk is more important than ever.

During the outbreak, Mid-Atlantic Mothers’ Milk Bank is actively monitoring the demand for donor milk and continues to operate following the rigorous guidelines of the Human Milk Banking Association of North America (HMBANA) to ensure that every ounce of pasteurized, donated human milk is safe for the medically fragile infants who rely on it.

As the need for donor milk reaches a heightened level, we are ramping up our processes to meet the need and have added questions to our screening process and additional procedures for the safety of staff. We have also changed our open-door policy at the milk bank to keep our community, families and staff safe.

Donor milk is lifesaving medicine for thousands of babies across our region. Now more than ever. To learn more about becoming a milk donor, call 412-281-4400 or email

All babies benefit from human milk. But for medically vulnerable infants, human milk is even more critical. It can be life saving. When a mother’s own milk isn’t available, the next best option is pasteurized milk from carefully screened donors. We are dedicated to providing safe human milk to all babies in need.

Mid-Atlantic Mothers’ Milk Bank is a non-profit milk bank that is proud to be part of the Human Milk Banking Association of North America, the experts in human milk banking for more than 30 years.
