Donor Milk in Your Neighborhood

Mid-Atlantic Mothers’ Milk Bank is working on ways to increase access to our milk bank throughout the region.

Depots are a handy place for pre-screened donor moms to drop off their milk.

Dispensaries, hosted by our community partners, can dispense limited amounts of donor milk for short-term use to local families.

Who can use the Donor Milk in Your Neighborhood program?

There are two ways to use this program: depots and dispensaries.

Depots are designed to be a handy drop-off for approved, pre-screened breast milk donors. Learn more about becoming a milk donor.

Dispensaries support families who have an immediate need for a limited amount of frozen, pasteurized donor milk to carry them through to the next step of their feeding plan.

How do I order milk from a dispensary?

  1. Contact your child’s healthcare provider: It is important for your child’s healthcare provider to be aware of supplementation that your child receives. A prescription is required for use of more than (12) 100 ml bottles (total, over a recipient’s lifetime, not per order)
  2. Contact us at orders@midatlanticmilkbank.org or 412-281-4400 before completing the Dispensary Order Form
  3. Fill out the Dispensary Order Form and pay online: Bottles are $15 each
  4. A receipt for your order with an order number and a payment receipt will be emailed to you
  5. Bring the receipt for your order and the payment receipt to your pick up
  6. Pick up at the Donor Milk in Your Neighborhood location nearest you

A note about lactation support

When donor milk is being used as a supplement, it is important to pair it with lactation support so parents are able to meet their feeding goals.  If you do not have lactation support in place, let us know and we will assist you in finding help in your area.
