It’s been 10 years since we embarked on this wild and wonderful journey as the Mid-Atlantic Mothers’ Milk Bank.

We opened our doors in 2016 with the hopes of becoming a reliable supplier of safe, ethically sourced donor milk for both inpatient and outpatient babies with medical needs. Now, MAMMB distributes more than 30,000 ounces of milk per month, serving more than 80 hospitals, including NICUs and well-baby units, and many outpatients.

It’s become bigger and better than we could have ever imagined.

And now, we’re building what comes next.

Next year, we’ll open the doors to our new home in Bellevue – a 19,000 square foot facility that will serve as a home to a state-of-the-art Milk Bank lab, shipping and receiving donations, milk storage, staff screeners, lab technicians, administrators, and The Human Milk Science Institute and Biobank.

This is a giant milestone, and as our community of donors, mothers, supporters, and leaders grows, we thought that now would be the perfect time to bring you along for the journey.

So welcome to the Milk Bank’s blog!

Over the coming months, we’ll take you behind the scenes of our new building, celebrate more milestones, tell stories of our community, introduce you to the people that make all of this possible, answer your questions, talk about science, impact, and the heart behind donor milk… and so much more.

And we want to hear from you, too.
