CAMC Women and Children’s Hospital Launches West Virginia’s First Donor Milk Depot

WV News – CAMC Women and Children’s Hospital has become the first hospital in West Virginia to open a donor milk depot in partnership with the Mid-Atlantic Mother’s Milk Bank, offering life-saving nutrition to vulnerable newborns across the state.

The newly established milk depot allows the hospital to collect raw human milk donations from approved donors, helping provide critical nourishment to premature and medically fragile infants who cannot be breastfed by their own mothers.

Research shows that human milk supports optimal growth and development, while also reducing the risk of serious infections and complications for the smallest and sickest babies.

CAMC Women and Children’s Hospital is now actively collecting milk donations from prescreened donors. Those interested in becoming a donor must first complete a screening process through the Mid-Atlantic Mother’s Milk Bank.

Prospective donors can start the process by contacting the milk bank at 412-281-4400. Additional information on eligibility and the donation process is available at midatlanticmilkbank.org/donate.

Once approved, donors can schedule milk drop-offs directly with CAMC’s Mother-Baby Nurse Management team.

By partnering with the Mid-Atlantic Mother’s Milk Bank, CAMC Women and Children’s Hospital is enhancing access to this vital resource for families across West Virginia. The initiative is part of an ongoing effort to ensure that even the most vulnerable newborns in the state receive the best possible start in life.
